Pulp and Paper Industry
The caustic soda has a very much essential in the
pulp and paper industry. Here, it is used in the
de-inking of waste paper with water treatment, as
well as a raw material in the pulping and bleaching
processes.
Bleach manufacturing
Caustic soda is used to make bleach, which has
industrial, and consumer applications such as mold
and mildew control around the home or to control
microbial levels in swimming pools and hot tubs.
Textile Industry
Caustic soda is used into the chemical
processing of cotton, for desiring, scouring,
mercerization, and for dying synthetic fibers such
as nylon, polyester etc.
Uses of Caustic Soda - Petroleum
Products
Caustic soda is used to explore, produce
and process petroleum and natural gas. Caustic soda
is used to remove acidic materials from hydrocarbons
and off-gases. It removes undesirable smell from
these materials because of the presence of hydrogen
sulphide (H2S).
Uses of Caustic Soda - Chemical
Processing
Caustic soda is used in the manufacture of a wide
range of chemicals. It is used as an intermediate or
as a reactant in processes which produce solvents,
plastics, synthetic fibres, bleach, adhesives,
coatings, herbicides, dyes, inks and
pharmaceuticals. It is also used to neutralize
acidic waste streams. Caustic soda is used to
produce alumina by dissolving bauxite ore, the raw
material for aluminum production.
Uses of Caustic Soda - Soaps and
Detergents Industry
Caustic soda is considered as the alkali material
used for the conversion of fat or vegetable oils in
the soap manufacturing process. The largest use of
caustic soda is in the manufacture of anionic
surfactants, in detergents Industry.
